The Birds Fall Down

We are all bowmen in this place.
The pattern of the birds against the sky
Our arrows overprint, and then they die.
But it is also common to our race
That when the birds fall down we weep.
Reason's a thing we dimly see in sleep.

Fear is a prison

"a well told lie is worth a thousand facts" (Michael Ondaatje/ The Guardian 28.8.11)

"Q; Is everything true?
A; Sometimes I've lied myself to a greater truth" (Karin Thunberg/ SSv 28.8.11)

I realise suddenly that I haven't lied enough, exaggerated - yes, but simply lied, no - seldom.
I think i have a prosperous future!

Last weekend in August

Out for a quickstep (!) in Malmö's graveyard, the green lung here. Passing the beautiful flowers and graves, some of them so sadly forgotten. The autmn is well knocking on the door now, don't mind, it's a colourful season, so full of life and lung..

The Hour

And while we're not on the subject, I feel I'd like to recomend a brilliant series from the BBC - The Hour;" A behind-the-scenes drama and espionage thriller in Cold War-era England that centers on a journalist, a producer, and an anchorman for an investigative news programme."

It's  a really exciting drama even if it is a bit predictable at times, but if nothing else the props-people must have had the time of their life. The scenorgaphy is so good it hurts! I also have a small crush on the actor who plays the news-anchor, Dominic West, even though his character is not the most appealing.

Another favourite actor plays one of the journalists; Anna Chancellor, and here's an interesting interview with her in The Guardian
http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/2011/aug/21/anna-chancellor-interview-the-hour?INTCMP=SRCH

It's not going to leave any long lasting memories, but it is so beautiful, at least to us that finds that era of time appealing. It has been suggested that it is a new mad men, the british way. I was never so much into mad men. But this; I like!

Todays harvest at emmaus thrift-shop

It was raining, I was bored, wanted to go for a walk - ended up att Lantmannagatans finest..

a present for the new baby (not mine - my brothers) homeknitted and pretty

new bag for the fall and for the winter I come prepared, (no more cold ears)

userfriendly and pretty coffee-cups with swedish castles on the decoration. A very useful book of mushrooms and a book with Snoopy-cartons from -67. Had coffee and cake and read that as soon as I came home - that's entertainment enough :)

the sun also rises

" I mistrust all frank and simple people, especially when their stories hold together..." (ernest hemingway - the sun also rises)

This summer I found a lot of fine classics that I have enjoyed reading. I must say that I wonder if my reading says anything about my state of mind or if it is, most probably, just the pure chance of what is on offer at the fleamarkets I happen to visit. Everything in my home (almost) is like that, things I saved, that maybe were a bit off, kindred spirits...

finally got my place-plates (!) up in the kitchen

started to collect brass-stuff, for no special reason more than it was on offer..

kitchen bookshelf

couldnt put up my string-shelf anywhere on my useless walls, this is the only place i could drill sufficient holes for it, didn't even need a shelf there, but hell, you can always throw some books on it!

had a bad cold for a few days, but couldn't sit still so I fixed up this little shelf with som paint

a good day for music

BBC6 brightened my day with some new releases on the radio today. Beautiful Florence & the machine and Tom Waits (somewhat reluctant to his forced premature release). Let them speak/sing:
